"Welcome" to the Alton Police Department Lobby. The oil painting collage you see when you enter our lobby was painted in 1997 by a very talented former Dispatcher of the Alton Police Dept. and actually contains painted caricatures of past and present employees of the Department. The lobby counter and safety glass window at Dispatch was donated during the time of the building construction in 1986 from a bank in Nashua. At the counter, you will find helpful and informative pamphlets on various subjects, such as: seat belt rules, what to expect at court, driving courses, safety at home and on the road, to name a few. The Lobby and Dispatch Desk is open Monday to Friday, from 7:00am to 5:00pm. As our Duty Officers are often out on patrol and particularly after hours, you can ring the door bell at the front entrance and/or call for an Officer to meet you at the Station through Central Dispatch [Ph# 875-3752 or 911 for an emergency}. The public is always welcome to view our facility, during business hours, by calling and arranging a tour prior to your expected arrival.
